Let them Fly

It is that time of year! Your youth are warming up their wings as they prepare to leave the nest! Their University adventures are about to begin.

As a church, this thought might bring a tear to your eye, as you release your flock of youth into the wild. But what can you do, as a church, to bless them as they head off to University?

Commission

Commission your soon-to-be-students into their new adventure! Spend some time praying for them. Why not pray during your main service, with the whole of your church community praying into their adventure. Interview your students and allow them to share where they are going, what they are going to study and what they would love your prayers for. As a church, write your prayers down and seal them in an envelope to give to them when they leave.

Get them to download the Student Linkup app! It takes no time at all! This app will link them to all of the churches in their place of study. The church is passionate about students and the app will allow churches to welcome students and let them know who they are.

Have you thought about giving them a going-away gift? Something to prepare them to stand strong in their faith. The Student Linkup Box will focus them on living their lives for Jesus amongst all that uni can throw at them. From dealing with identity, the start, the culture, the opportunities and the legacy they leave.

While they are at uni, you still play an important role. Encouraging letters and Christmas cards will brighten up their day. Whether students are struggling or loving life, words of affirmation can go a long way. Continue meeting up with them when they return home for the holiday. Touch base with how they are doing. Invest in them and bless them as they approach each term.

Let your flock loose and watch them fly!
