To invite ALL students to #TryChurch and to equip churches to welcome ALL students.
The story so far
For many years, churches have been keen to connect with Christian students through Student Linkup. This is sensible and important. More recently, it has become apparent that there are thousands of students who would be very interested in trying a church, if they were invited. University students are predominantly an un-churched generation.
Throughout autumn 2017, Fusion ran #TryChurch stalls during freshers’ fairs at 20 universities in partnership with local churches. We invited all the students we met to try a local church and offered the Student Linkup app as a great platform to do so. Hundreds of the students we spoke to were very open to this idea and have now tried churches and joined them.
We believe that trying a church at university could be the best decision a student makes at university. It could be an interesting experience, but it could also be where they discover the meaning of life in the person of Jesus Christ. It could be when they find purpose and destiny, meet people of all ages, get invited to a home-cooked meal in a family home, find real community and a way of engaging with something bigger than their university environment. It could be a significant milestone in their life. But if they never go, they’ll never know. So let’s start inviting.

The actions are things you can do that will bring students closer to your church or your church closer to students. The stories are examples of what churches have done so far. The values are the reasons and the attitudes that create the platform for #TryChurch.
