Hello and welcome to the new Fusion office in Loughborough! I’m Matt and I’m taking on a new General Manager role within Fusion. I have just graduated from the University of Derby and am married to Jess. We’re just beginning to church plant into Leicester.
Currently our new office is a bit sparse! I believe it’s significant that this office is located close to the centre of the country. It’s from here that we will seek to support and amplify what God is doing through students in the UK.
Fusion has seen great growth and expansion over the past year, we estimate that there are now 12,000 students linked to 560 Fusion Connected churches. Seven new student resources have been published. And the team has made around 500 visits to nearly every university city in the UK. In the last 6 weeks Fusion has linked nearly 2000 students through student linkup and equipped a similar amount to start uni well through training seminars.
Last weekend I had a great time at Fusion’s annual student work conference. 100 student workers gathered in Birmingham to be encouraged, resourced and inspired for this new academic year. It was great to network with student workers from around the country, and I was able to get a good impression of the immense impact students are making through God’s empowerment.
We’re saying goodbye to some highly dedicated team members; Andy, Charlotte and James. The legacy of their hard work and contribution is clear to see.
And we’re saying hello to the new Fusion team. In this new General Manager role, I will generally make things happen! Tom will head up the new job site which will advertise student and graduate opportunities. Pippa will work with youth workers and develop the student linkup process. And Miriam will inspire and equip student mission across the country.
Hannah will continue to equip and train student workers through the student work programme. Luke will continue to support and network with local church leaders. Finally, Rich will continue to lead Fusion, and will carry on developing our relational network.
As you can see we’re in need of equipping our new office! We’re looking to raise £12,000 to start this new phase well. Please think about whether you may be able to give once off or regularly, to sustain the long term vision of Fusion. We’re passionate about student mission! Through serving churches, working with students and developing student workers we hope to stoke the fires of a national student movement.
These are exciting times, and we’re energized by what God is doing throughout the country. Please pray for this new chapter that Fusion is entering. Please pray for the 2000 student linkups who in the coming weeks will be packing up all their worldly possessions and transitioning into a new stage in their lives. Exciting times indeed!
